We are inviting participants from the Long-term Information and Knowledge on Ageing (LINKAGE) study to join a COVID-19 sub-study
What is the purpose of this study?
We are carrying out urgent research in response to the pandemic of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) that has affected over 4 million people worldwide. Older people and those with pre-existing medical problems are at highest risk of life-threatening complications.
We have an opportunity to carry out fundamental research on this new disease. We want to understand who gets infected, and how and when that infection becomes severe.
What does the study involve
The study will involve an initial home visit (blood sample and throat swab), with a weekly follow-up assessment, which include questions about possible symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath). If anything has changed, we will arrange for a repeat throat swab and blood sample.
Who will be invited?
We will be recruiting existing research participants of the Long-term Information and Knowledge on Ageing (LINKAGE) study. The LINKAGE study team are contacting all participants who are eligiable to take part.
If you have any questions or need to get in touch with the LINKAGE study team, their contact details are:
